Broadcom has introduced BCM21892, smallest 4G LTE modem for tablet and smartphone which capable to provide maximum internet speed up to 150 mbps and it supports all 3GPP standards technologies including 4G LTE, HSPA+, TD-SCDMA and EDGE/GSM.
Modem also support high quality HD voice using its integrated IMS/VoLTE technology. Broadcom new 4G LTE modem chip is only 28nm which reduces board area by approximately 35 percent.
Carrier aggregation feature of modem enables operators to combine frequency bands which results peak 4G LTE speeds with out any fluctuation. Modem support LTE category 4 which enables device to provide internet speed up to 150mbps of
Its Advanced power management feature saves up to 25 percent of the power typically consumed during data transmissions to the network and Broadcom's VoLTE service consumes approximately 40 percent less power than a comparable WCDMA voice call.
Broadcom new LTE modem is going to change the technology in upcoming 4g smartphone and tablet in future and definitely, we can expect to get high spec wireless 4G devices at affordable prices.
“Broadcom's new 4G LTE modem combined with our Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC technologies gives OEMs all the communications technologies needed to build advanced devices that will offer consumers the features, speed and functionality they demand in their next smartphone purchase,” said Robert A. Rango, Broadcom Executive Vice President and General Manager, Mobile and Wireless Group. “Broadcom's 4G LTE modem will also help carriers drive new 4G LTE features, such as carrier aggregation, into commercial networks.”
Broadcom to open the BCM21892 in upcoming Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, February 25-28, 2013.
