Videocon has announced to launch 4G LTE service across Gujrat telecom circle by end of 2013 using its 1800Mhz band. Company to offer high quality voice and data service across the circle by December 2013.
Videocon has tied up with Nokia Siemens Network to implement 4G service. Videocon has won spectrum in Gujrat circle with Rs 900 crore for next 20 years.
In November 2012 spectrum Auction, Videocon has acquired 1800MHz spectrum for Rs 2,221.44 crore across 7 circles including Bihar and Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East and West) and Gujarat.
1800Mzh usually used for voice service but the spectrum Videocon bought was ‘liberalized' that means company can use spectrum to use any service either 2G, 3G or 4G but company is not interested to implement 3G and choose to launch 4G standard technology.
Company claims that they have around 1 million subscribers across Gujrat but According to COAI report (February 2013), Videocon has only 551,701 customers in the circle.
