Reliance Jio Infocomm is going to launch 4G service across metro cities by the end of 2013 and Kolkata would be the first city to receive 4G internet from company at first phase.
Company confirmed to invest arounf Rs 7000 crore in eatern and northern part of India in next two or three months where Rs 3000 crore will be spent in West Bengal and more Rs 3000-4000 crore in other eatern and northern part to roll out the 4G service.
According to business-standard, Reliance Jio Infocomm will cover around 5,500KM with fiber optic and around 3,500 telecom towers will be used to implement fourth generation high speed internet service and around 300km fiber optic implementation has been completed.
According to Mr. Tarun Jhunjhunwala, business head and state mentor (East), Reliance Jio, Reliance Jio Infocomm will launch the 4G service in Kolkata in first phase and then in Delhi, Mumbai and Jamnagar simultaneously in second phase.
Jio Infocomm is trying their best to start the service in metro cities by the end of the first quarter of 2014.
