Jio announced a range of Prime plans for prime subscribers while almost neglected Non-Prime Jio customers. Jio is trying best to push as many as 4G subscribers to ‘Prime Subscription' before march 31st, the last date of ‘Happy New Offer'. Millions of accepted ‘Jio freebie 4g Offer' doesn't mean everyone is ready to pay for the same. Jio has a tendency of changing its tariff plans with every new session it creates to launch new offers and, all these changes are made to push customers to certain direction, obviously profitable one for company.
Jio smartly launches the tariff plans for Prime and Non-Prime customers this time. Interesting plans are added in the form of ‘Jio Prime' and, plans comparatively cheaper than rivals are added in the list of Non-Prime plans.
Jio seems to continue telecom venture with these few millions of customers which is why company is giving special benefits to ‘Prime Subscribers' only and, intentionally ignored Non-prime customers. When freebies are concerned, anyone would select all the options available with a bundled pack or offer but as soon as charge is applied, a personalized calculation would come under scanner.
Bundled packs are OK but subscribers also demand special packs – Voice special or Data special. Voice oriented subscribers can obviously choose Non-Prime form where Non-Prime monthly plan 149 is enough for unlimited calls & SMS. Problem is that Jio has sold thousands of JioFi devices, subscribers bought JioFi module to keep in mind that Jio would at least launch special data packs for JioFi subscribers.
Till now, JioFi subscribers feel being cheated by a big company ! – It's true because Jio has no Data plan for JioFi users.
Jio basically emerged as Data savior but now acts like Voice savior. When subscribers can pay Rs 250 for 1GB why can't same subscribers pay Rs 303 for 1GB/day and unlimited Voice ! ?
Many subscribers are ready to pay for next generation technology but when a telecom company pays more for the services subscribers actually use then changing primary number is completely useless.
Following criteria would give you an idea why Jio Prime becomes useless for some subscribers :
#1 More Voice less data
Non-Prime 149 plan comes very effective if unlimited voice is concerned. If subscribers need more data he/she need to pay at least Rs 50 to get extra 1GB data making total monthly payment of Rs 199.
#2 More data less Voice
Jio Prime monthly plan 303 or 499 come very effective in such criteria and if demand for data increases subscribers can opt in ‘Jio Prime Long-term' plans. Both the prime plans 303 & 499 offer all benefits similar to ‘Happy New Year Offer' where plan 303 offers 1GB/day and plan 499 offers 2GB/day 4g data.
#3 Monthly consumption for Voice & Data is low
Jio is not for you, you will end up paying hefty amount of money every month no matter which ‘Jio 4g plan' you subscribed to. Rivals have better offering when limited Voice or Data usage is concerned.
#4 Only Voice no Data
You should immediately throw Jio sim into dustbin if you already have one. Using 4G network only for Voice services is completely useless in this Digital era. Rivals have better offerings in this segment too.
#5 Only Data no Voice
Just throw Jio Sim as well as JioFi (If you've one) into dustbin and go back to primary number or switch Jio number to any other operators. Jio has no plans for data only customers. Either pay more for Jio combo packs or apply for BSNL 3g plan 1099.
#6 Unlimited Voice
Just choose Jio Prime and continue peace of mind for next 1 year.
Rivals have similar offering but these offers won't last for long. Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, BSNL have launches 1GB/data data along with unlimited voice but either operators will increase monthly charge or discard some benefits in next few months. Jio has lock-in period of 1 year but you've already experienced how often operators modified benefits of offerings.
#7 Unlimited Data
Choose BSNL 3g plan 1099 which offers unlimited 3g data for 28 days. No data FUP, no speed FUP, No hidden term while continue Non-Prime Jio number for unlimited voice. Average speed of Jio 4g becomes 1.34MBPS now-a-day where BSNL 3G users can easily get speed up to 1.23MBPS depending users distance from BTS tower.
Above scenario will change after March 31st. Jio created tariff plans for Prime & Non-prime subscribers in such a way that subscribers end up by switching current plan to ‘Prime' one and continue freebie services.
Rivals are eagerly waiting for the last date of ‘Jio 4g freebie offer', for long. Rival operators will launch a bunch of lucrative offers next month so that Non-Prime numbers can return to primary number & continue operator's services.
Jio will launch a number of tariff plans for Non-Prime customers or extends last date for ‘Jio Prime Subscription'. Second option will give an advantage to rival operators, no doubt.
Should I apply for Jio Prime or Skip subscription for now ?
Well, Decision is up to you. If Voice becomes priority, continue Non-Prime form; If Data is concerned go for Jio Prime. Jio FAQ doesn't tell any option to disconnect ‘Prime Subscription' in future if subscribers feel Non-Prime form suites best for him/her. Company is desperately trying its best to lock ‘freebie loving' subscribers to ‘Prime membership'.
Rest assured rival operators will start raining a numbers of attractive offers for Voice as well as Data in next few months. Rcom+MTS,+Aircel merge, Airtel+Telenor merge, Vodafone+Idea merge are example of upcoming ‘Strong competition' in telecom sector, obviously healthy tariff would continue as long as Jio leads the market.
