Jio is getting lakh of subscribers every new months but still people need to think twice before making Jio as Primary number. Two tough competitor – Airtel & Vodafone successfully maintained dignity and, continue getting smooth ARPU from existing customers.
There was a time when customers used to buy extra Sim for getting special benefits like A Sim wroth Rs 10 offering Rs 100 full talktime, 600 Free minutes and 1GB data/month for 3 months and so on. Customers usually collect these sim and take full advantage of freebies and then throw sim into dustbin without making any change in freebies.
Jio, perhaps, is following same path and become a ‘guinea pig test' thing ! – No not true at all !
Customers selected Jio for three major benefits including Free Voice calls, Unlimited and overwhelming ‘Internet Speed'.
After few months of trial, Jio stopped unlimited data, continued unlimited voice but completely failed to maintained the speed which was the primary reason for becoming ‘Awesome Network' among data-hungry customers since the day Ji0 appeared.
Being popular in few days will create a lot of headache and most of the time this popularity chock service or service-holder in next couple of weeks or in months.
The case is little different for telecom operators in India.
As soon as Jio would start getting more and more customers, Airtel, Vodafone or Idea would losing more & more customers, in contrast they would become more and more superior network since network would start getting more free bandwidth as well as speed would increase every new days allowing competitor to start a ‘Number Game' -/ This would result a bad time for competitor for a short span of time but would create a better future for them.
During starting days, average Jio 4g speed was 40mbps to 70mbps or even 80mbps and speed dropped a lot as soon as more and more customers start jumping into the Jio land – This was normal and as per expectation.
Average drop of Jio 4g speed becomes a nightmare for many of us. If you travel traffic congested route you would end up by switching mobile internet to Airtel or Vodafone for accurate GPS locations – This is an example, many such cases can be found.
Airtel and Vodafone maintained superior ‘Internet Speed' from last couple of years, even after being victim of huge ‘bandwidth loss' for some unethical ways usually used by customers to have access to free internet.
Airtel & Vodafone network are already optimized for better internet and speed. As soon as Jio start getting more and more customers under its roof, more and more Airtel & Vodafone network (pressure on mobile tower) will start getting free up. This would make Airtel & Vodafone a better choice when ‘Inter Speed' is concerned.
Airtel, primary competitor of Jio already started investing more and more to improve speed and upgrade network.
Leading companies are following same Jio strategy : ‘Number Game' here ‘Speed Game'.
Gone are days when '40mbps 4g speed' was a thing of pride. Now same game leading telecom operators are playing to beat Jio and operators are successful to some extent thanks to Jio for not giving much attention on ‘Speed'.
When superior speed is concerned, customers have to maintain two number for getting full access to digital services on-the-go as Primary network is ‘Costly' and, Secondary network is not ‘Reliable'.
Both Jio and Airtel will lose ‘Higher Revenue Generating Customers' since this ‘Speed Game' will create a divergent among high ARPU generating subscribers.
Jio would definitely improve speed and get back to track soon but competitor are not sitting silently they are after making big changes. Quality will win at the end of the day.
‘Digital India' initiative is on full swing – people start using internet to make life easier and superior. Jio helped to established this environment in masses but once customers start getting true benefits of digital services they would keep accessing internet no matter internet service provider is Jio or Airtel or Vodafone or, BSNL or even Telenor.
Jio created a healthy competition but failed to maintain heathy services. Choices are getting changes.
Jio made some major changes in Indian telecom industry since the day it launches 4g services :
- Each customer is now High ARPU generating customer (Any operator can now take full advantage of this)
- Free Voice calls to Any Network (More engagement)
- 1GB free internet per day (Making people digitally dependent)
- No blackout days (End of headache !)
- A Healthy Competition (subscribers are now boss !)
- Customer Satisfaction (No. 1 concern of every telecom operators)
- Digital Entrepreneurship in masses (Economical growth and, next-big-thing for ISP)
- Accurate Navigation (Superior for travelers and a big market)
- Supercharge Talent hunt (Quality empowerment)
Both Airtel & Vodafone will start offering similar service once they reach service level to take full advantage of already ‘optimized customers'.
Number game is huge and it leaves a great impact on customers. Leading operators will be playing these games until they match Jio services.
Customers will choose better network, it may be Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea or BSNL even Telenor – Quality now matters a lot.
Millions come under ‘Digital Services' and billions are waiting. A superior ISP with future-proof initiatives for subscribers can lead industry as well as country to next level.
